EPF Office Jalan Raja Laut Has Temporarily Closed Down Due To The Visit Of COVID-19 Patient

A visitor who went to The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) office at Jalan Raja Laut on the 27th of Feb has been confirmed as the positive COVID-19 patient on the 3rd of March. The EPF office at Jalan Raja Laut is temporarily closed for the disinfection process and will reopen on the 16th of March.

The visitor was tested positive for Covid-19 after the visit to the branch. The member had a short stay which was about half an hour at the premises on the 27th of February. The risk of people being exposed to the virus is still high even the period was short.

According to The Star, "Presently, we are unable to confirm if the member was already infected at the time of the member's visit to our branch," EPF said in a statement on the 10th of March. The headquarters also mentioned that the staff member who came into contact with the visitor had been sent for testing and the remains staff are subjected to quarantine order.

"We have decided to take the proactive measure of closing the branch until Friday, March 13, to conduct thorough disinfection of the affected area and its vicinity," they added.

"The branch will be reopened on Monday, March 16," it said.

The branch will take precautions and go through hygiene protocols to make sure that the public can enter the premises safely.

"All counters and other surfaces are continually cleaned throughout the day. In addition, all counter staff is required to wash their hands every 30 minutes. As a further precautionary measure, members must undergo mandatory temperature checks prior to entering any EPF premises.

"Counters at other EPF branches will operate as usual," it said.

EPF also suggested that the members can proceed with their transaction via i-Akaun which can avoid face-to-face contact with its staff.
