A couple discovered mortar bombs while cleaning their newly rented house in Taman Selayang Jaya and immediately called the police. Bomb disposal unit personnel were dispatched to the site and found 2 used and inactive practice bombs.
According to Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Arifai Tarawe, a police report was lodge by a Malay man, 36, and his wife, 33. The couple moved into the house 2 days ago and found the said mortar bombs while they were cleaning their house.

He said the area was immediately cordoned off and local residents were told to assemble at a nearby place for their safety.
He added that the house owner said he bought the house 3 years ago from its previous owner, who is an antique collector. It was believed that the bombs belong to the previous owner.
The bombs have been taken away from the house by the police. Arifai said that Taman Selayang Jaya is safe and the residents do not have to worry.
Police investigation is ongoing.
