Only teachers and students who had close contact with COVID-19 patients will have to undergo COVID-19 testings when schools reopen, according to Deputy Health Minister, Dato’ Dr. Noor Azmi.
He added that not all of them will be tested because after all, COVID-19 testings focus only on a targeted group, which is those who came into close contact with COVID-19 patients or people with COVID-19 symptoms.
Dato’ Noor Azmi further explained that insufficient test kits might in turn cause panic among the 30 million Malaysians.

As for the SOP for reopening schools, Noor Azmi said the Health Ministry will not issue guidelines for schools, instead, the Education Ministry will be making the guidelines.
Hopefully a detailed guideline will be made to ensure the safety of all teachers, students and those who work at school.
