PETALING JAYA: A man beat his 73-year-old mother to the point of breaking her wrist after the she refused to give him money to buy drugs.
The woman was attacked with a wooden stick by her 45-year-old son at their house in Pelangi Damansara here at 7pm last Saturday.
The woman then called police.
Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said, following the woman's report, at 11.30pm the same night, the police raided the residence and arrested the suspect.
"Police arrested the 45-year-old suspect who was believed to be involved in injuring his own birth mother.
"The woman received treatment at the University of Malaya Medical Center (UMMC)," he said in a statement today.
According to him, the initial investigation found that the suspect often acted aggressively by beating and demanding for money from his mother to buy drugs.
“A review of past records found the suspect had 15 drug records and three past criminal records.
"The suspect is now remanded for four days to assist in the investigation under Section 325 of the Penal Code for deliberately causing serious injuries," he said.
