A video clip of a CNN news report recently went viral on social media, with claims that the reporters were faking the incident.
In the video, a voice can be heard instructing the crew on what to do, pretending as if they were in a war zone and taking cover.
Some argue that the voice was a fan-made parody. Others pointed out that the video still seems fake, citing several pieces of evidence that don't make sense.
According to CNN, the reporters were in a war zone near the Israel-Gaza border, where a 'massive barrage of rockets' was flying through their location. However, YouTuber @TheQuartering reviewed the video and claimed it was fake.
The YouTuber pointed out the absence of related noises in the video. Additionally, the reporters weren't wearing the necessary protective gear expected of war zone correspondents. Instead, reporter Clarissa appeared with makeup and a proper hairdo.
While seeking shelter, one of the reporters was on a call the entire time.
The team stayed down for less than 2 minutes before returning to a quiet street. The reporter tried to explain the situation, stating that guns were shooting at vehicles on the roadside and there were bombings not far from their location.
However, the video showed no bullet holes on the vehicles, and the smoke claimed to be from the bombing was way too far from where the reporters were.
A few army officers were seen in the footage, standing calmly on the street, and a few locals were casually walking by.
There is no clear evidence proving that the reporters faked the incident. Still, based on the evidence highlighted by netizens, the video is believed to be staged.
Interestingly, the reporter, Clarissa, was the same journalist featured in another viral video a few days ago, where an Egyptian lady confronted her.
