Based on reports, a water park in Kedah was announced to only be permitted to Muslims, so eyebrows and questions were raised.
A call was made to the theme park earlier today to confirm their policy, to which person(s) in charge, confirmed it to be true.
A staff member, confirmed that the pools there are restricted to Muslims. He reasoned that the facility is small and the management caters to local villagers in the nearby Kuala Muda area who are predominantly Muslims.
The employee said that non-Muslims are welcomed, but not to use the pools because there is a limit on the number of persons allowed in.
"We are a small outfit and we mostly only cater to the villagers," he said, referring to residents in nearby vicinities.
The Berangan Aqua Park is located at Kampung Kelang Makau, which is surrounded by padi fields and cottage homes, which netizens have also branded as "Muslim only".
The "Muslim only" label that appeared on Google Maps has been removed, at time of writing. But, a video posted on YouTube to promote the park describes it as 'Taman Tema Air Muslim Pertama di Utara Semenanjung Malaysia'.
