A deceased baby's body was found in a restroom cistern at Kampung Pasir Simpul Mosque On Tuesday, April 16th.
"After cleaning the toilet, he (cleaner) flushed the toilet cistern and blood-like liquid came out with a very foul smell," said Muhammad Mustaffa, the head of the Kampung Pasir Simpul Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK).
While sharing further information to the reporters at the mosque here on Wednesday, April 17, he stated, "the cleaner, thinking the toilet cistern was clogged, decided to dig it out with a stick and out came the baby's hand in a state of decomposition." - The Star
Muhammad claimed that the cleaner phoned him right away and that he then hurried to the mosque to notify the police.
The body was discovered at 7 p.m. on Tuesday however Deputy Supt Zainul Mujahidin Mat Yudin of the Hulu Terengganu OCPD confirmed that the baby boy was thought to have passed away over 24 hours prior to being discovered.
"The case is being looked into in accordance with Section 318 of the Penal Code for hiding the baby's birth and being the reason behind his demise."
Further investigations are ongoing with the suspects still being tracked down.
