Beginning next year, commuters will be able to use the Touch 'n Go eWallet to digitally renew their My50 monthly pass.
Wohoo!
For those who are unaware the My50 pass provides frequent travelers unlimited travel on Rapid KL's LRT, MRT, monorail, BRT, buses, and MRT feeder buses across the Klang Valley for only RM50 a month.
Since being implemented in 2019, commuters could only use their MyKad to renew their pass at LRT, MRT, monorail, and BRT counters.
According to the New Straits Times, Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated that because of growing concerns about MyKad being lost or misplaced during their time of travel, users with My50 monthly passes will no longer need to utilize it for renewal.
Apart from the integration of eWallets, Loke disclosed that other methods of payment will be introduced as well.
"Once the system integration process is complete, users will be able to use a Touch 'n Go card or access via their smartphone, using a QR code. These are the details we are working on," he said.
