In a swift and decisive action, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has apprehended a 25-year-old foreign national for the heinous crime of raping a 71-year-old woman in Cyberjaya. The arrest was made on Friday, September 12, following a report lodged by the victim at 12:18 am.
According to Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, Chief Police of the Sepang district, the suspect was taken into custody at approximately 12:20 pm on the same day. The suspect, who worked at a local restaurant, was found to be in possession of a smartphone and jewelry stolen from the victim during the commission of the crime.
According to Astro Awani, the incident occurred at a condominium in Cyberjaya, where the victim was waiting for the elevator in the lobby when the suspect attacked her. The case is currently being investigated under Sections 376/392 of the Penal Code for rape and robbery.
If convicted, the suspect faces a maximum sentence of 14 years' imprisonment, accompanied by 10 strokes of the cane.
