A motorcyclist tragically lost his life in a shocking accident involving a reversing lorry in Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur. The incident, which occurred yesterday morning (November 23), has since gone viral on social media after video footage captured the chaotic scene.
The lorry was seen reversing at high speed into the main road at a traffic light, striking the motorcyclist and colliding with another car on the opposite side. The motorcyclist, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while the car driver sustained a forehead injury.
Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, head of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), confirmed receiving a report about the accident at 8:34 am. Following investigations, the 32-year-old lorry driver was detained for questioning.
According to authorities, the driver had been refilling the lorry's brake oil at a nearby construction site when the vehicle suddenly reversed uncontrollably, breaking through the security gate before entering traffic. Efforts to avoid the lorry by other motorists proved unsuccessful.
Police have classified the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
