In order to encourage his daughter to study, a father took the 2024 Malaysian Education Certificate (SPM) examination with her. As a result, both father and daughter achieved excellent results in all subjects!
According to the New Straits Times, 58-year-old father R. Baskaran scored seven A's in his SPM exam, while his 18-year-old daughter B. Dannya scored 11 A's. Both of them took the exam at Bukit Mertajam High School.
He said he did this to prove that age does not hinder learning, and he also hopes to encourage young people to cherish education and learn throughout their lives.
Baskaran, who is now the Medical Director at Hospital Penang (HPP), is passionate about education and has dedicated his life to learning and further study.
After completing higher education, he wants to apply his knowledge to basic education, challenge himself, and accompany his daughter in this endeavor.
He also revealed that he only obtained Gred 2 in his SPM in 1984, so he wanted to improve his SPM results.
He admitted that his eldest and second oldest children also faced various challenges when they took the SPM exams, so he decided to support his youngest daughter this time.
He said he hopes a good education will lead his daughter to a brighter future.
Nothing is difficult if you set your mind to it. Congratulations to both father and daughter for getting all A's!
