Jozsef Szajer, a member of the European Parliament, resigned from his position after being caught leaving what reports described as a 25-man orgy in Belgium.
If you have never read about the politic news in European countries, here's a quick summary. The Hungary government is currently ran by the right-wing Fidesz party, which was led by the Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The party is known for defending conservative Christian values and has used anti-gay rhetoric back at home in their country. Since Orban has been elected as the Prime Minister in 2010, the new government has curtailed LGBTQ rights. And recently the government has rewritten Hungary's constitution to restricting marriage only to unions between a male and a female.
Jozsef Szajer is one of the founding member of the Fidesz party. He is a well-known public figure in Hungary, who fronted Fidesz in the European Parliament. Until he was caught partying in Brussels, Belgium, with 24 naked men, including diplomats.
According to report, the police arrived at the party after receiving complaints from the neighbors of being too noisy, especially that Belgium is now in a lockdown state due to the pandemic.
The public prosecutor's office said that they received report of seeing a man fleeing the party along the gutter. The police tracked down the man, however the man couldn't provide any ID. The man then claimed himself to be a Member of European Parliaments (MEP).
"The police continued the process and finally issued an official verbal warning and transported me home." said Szajer. "I deeply regret violating the Covid restrictions, it was irresponsible on my part. I am ready to stand for the fine that occurs."
He then announced his resignation as MEP.
In my opinion, there are two key takeaways from the incident : One, not everyone does or says things that they themselves agrees with. There's a lot of hidden stories and unknown reasons behind. So, never judge too early. Second... ...DO NOT PARTY DURING PANDEMIC! Obey the lockdown please.
Stay safe everyone. And we can party again soon.
