You have probably heard the viral news where certain customers were shocked to find that their bill, after dining at a famous seafood dining spot in Langkawi, had amounted to more than RM 1,000!
The customers claimed that they were deceived by the owner(s) of the restaurant who, according to them, wasn't transparent in the pricing of their menu. “I didn't carry that much cash, and I would've paid using my credit card if it wasn't for the 5% charge they were imposing. I told them that they're not allowed to charge that much as mentioned by the BNM."
However, the owner of the restaurant has finally come forward with their own explanation. "I have already suggested to the customer to choose other options such as red sea bass or grouper with a size between one to 1.5 kilograms (kg), it is more suitable as a dish," said the owner of Sas Rimba Floating Restaurant, Norasyikin Musa.
"I have explained to the customer that the fish he ordered, which weighed about 7 kg, was not to be sold but to be kept in cages for restaurant visitors to watch," she said.
According to her, she herself took the customer's order and asked them to see the fish before it was cooked but they refused. The owner also claimed that the price for the particular sea bass has been stated in the restaurant's menu, which is RM16 for every 100 grams (g).
Norasyikin also denied that the allegations that her restaurant had charged additional fees for credit card payments as accused by the customers in one of their Facebook posts.
Hmm, so who's really at fault here?
