No matter your gender or age, it's crucial to be vigilant about your safety when out and about. A recent incident in Ampang, Malaysia, has brought this reminder to the forefront, as a 71-year-old Chinese aunty was subjected to a heinous act of indecency in broad daylight. 

The assailant not only followed the victim persistently but also shamelessly exposed himself, leading to his eventual arrest by the authorities. A video lasting approximately 28 seconds has been circulating online, capturing the unsettling encounter. 

In the footage, a foreign man can be seen tailing and harassing the elderly Chinese woman, who was innocently picking up litter. Despite her efforts to shoo him away and publicly chastise his behaviour, the man didn't retreat. Instead, he audaciously unzipped his pants and exposed himself, inching closer to the woman from behind, even embracing her.

The terrified aunty screamed in shock, drawing the attention of nearby onlookers. 

They immediately condemned the man's reprehensible actions, promptly initiating a citizen's arrest and alerting the authorities. Mohamad Azanizam, the Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, issued a statement revealing that the incident occurred on the 2nd of this month at around 3:30 PM in the shop-house area of Taman Muda Wira, Jalan Pandan Indah.

According to initial investigations, the victim was harassed and touched on the thigh by a foreign man while she was picking up litter. In response, she confronted him verbally. Shockingly, the perpetrator escalated the situation by exposing himself and embracing her from behind, prompting the terrified aunty to call for help.

Azanizam disclosed that the apprehended suspect is a 23-year-old foreign cleaner, holding a refugee card issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). He has a criminal record with two prior offences and has tested positive for drug use in a urine test. The police detained the suspect for four days under Section 354 of the Penal Code to assist in the investigation.
