This incident exemplifies what can happen when someone has too much free time and engages in senseless activities to pass the time.
In this case, a 19-year-old teenager thought it was a clever idea to purchase a fake gun and use it to frighten those around him.
Reports indicate that a diligent police officer on duty noticed the teenager engaging in suspicious behaviour and carrying what appeared to be a "firearm." Consequently, the officer arrested the teenager.
Subsequent investigations unveiled that the suspect had acquired the fake gun from a toy store with the sole purpose of displaying it and having fun with it.
Additionally, it was revealed that the suspect had a prior criminal record related to theft. Currently, the teenager remains in custody until today, October 5th, and the case is under investigation according to Section 36 (1) of the Firearms Act 1960, which deals with possessing an imitation firearm.
This offence carries a potential jail sentence of up to one year, a fine of up to RM5,000, or both.
