After the Dune theatric replay and the Dune 2 premier, it’s no wonder that you want more… because we do too! Well, the Dune Gods listened, because there’s gonna be a video game based of the movie, and we’re twitching!
That’s right, according to official announcements, Dune’s newest survival game Dune: Awakening released a gameplay trailer and Arrakis looks as dangerous as ever.
The news first came in 2022 and described Dune: Awakening to be a survival MMO from Funcom, set on the harsh desert planet of Arrakis.
The game also includes the giant worms, which can’t be killed, but has to be avoided. There’s also ornithopter combat and fairly extensive base-building options.
The trailer doesn’t get much into the pure survival element, but since it’s Dune, fighting and finding water may be essential.
In addition to the gameplay trailer, Funcom also released a lengthier featurette about the process of adapting Dune, and how the new game will expand on the visual storytelling of Denis Villeneuves films.
Dune: Awakening doesnt have a release date as of yet, but it’ll be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X / S when it launches.
