WATCH: China Skyscraper Sways Uncontrollably, No Earthquake Reported

Panic struck the people of Shenzen in southern China on Tuesday afternoon when its 355-metre-high skyscraper began to wobble inexplicably. 


The SEG Plaza, one of China's tallest building started to shake around 1 pm, and was fully evacuated by 2.40 pm, as reported by local media. 

In video footages by onlookers, hundreds of frightened shoppers can be seen scurrying to safety outside of the tower. Watch here.


There was no reports of injuries, casualties or damages made. 


The Emergency Management Bureau in the Guangdong Province have reported that there were no earthquake striking in the city or anywhere nearby on 18th May 2021.

According to experts, there were no safety abnormalities found in the main structure & its surrounding environment. No further movements of the building had been detected. 

 

The bureau, with the help of the fire department & police,  is currently investigating the incident involving the over 20-year-old plaza.

As of now, the iconic building has been temporarily evacuated & sealed off. 


The tower houses a major electronics market & many offices in the centre of a fast-growing city.
