A few days ago, a 15-year-old teen from Kemaman, Terengganu stabbed her newborn baby to death , and it was later revealed that the poor teen was a victim of r*pe, and the crime was committed out of fear and confusion due to lack of emotional and psychological support. Today, that same traumatized, post-partum minor has been charged with murder despite an infanticide plea, the Malay Mail reports.

This particular case has gained high public interest, and understandably, netizens were enraged at its latest development, arguing that the teen should have not have been denied bail, given her regrettable circumstances.

According to her lawyer Nurainie Haziqah, no reasoning was given as to why the court has denied her client's bail. Murder, technically, is an offense under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which is non-bailable. However, according to Nurainie, Section 388 of the Criminal Procedure Code allows for exceptions to be made if the person charged is either sick, a minor, or a female.

We really do hope that there is justice for this poor child, who is nothing but a victim to the system.
