It was a terrifying journey passengers will not soon forget as their commute ended up in horror as their bus caught fire in the middle of the night.
16 individuals experienced a harrowing near death experience as the express bus they were travelling on suddenly caught fire at KM 242.3 of the North South Expressway (PLUS) northbound at midnight last night.
Fire and Rescue Department Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Fawwaz Abdul Jamil stated that fire personnel and machinery from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Stations (BBP) were swiftly deployed to the location after having recieved a call at approximately 12:01 AM
"In the incident, the express bus was estimated to have been 80 per cent burned up."
"There were 16 victims inside, including the driver, who were safe and were transferred to another bus when the fire brigade arrived at the scene," he announced via a statement on JBPM's Facebook page today.
Thankfully, the fire brigade managed to bring the fire under control at 12:51 AM and had been completely extinguished soon after at 1:34 AM.
The cause of fire is now currently being investigated.
