We all know the struggles of paying rent in this economy. It can be rather daunting, but we do what we must.
Based on a TikTok video lately gone viral, a woman is seen fighting with the authorities when they knock on her door asking her about her overdue rent.
One Miss Hidayah was visited by the officers in charge at her People's Housing Project (PPR) home, and was asked about her rent (RM124/month) which was overdue.
She was agitated by the questioning and started to get angry at the officers saying "Why don't you want to help your own people? Foreigners are busy doing business on the streets without permits, and no one bothers them. Go bother them instead."
Her anger was targeted at foreigner street vendors who were doing businesses by the roadsides with no legitimate permit.
Hidayah also expressed her difficulty in paying rent, highlighting her husband's health.
"Don't 'check' here. Why come to 'check' here? I'm in trouble, my husband is sick, can't you understand that?", she said.
The officers attempted to her down by explaining the installment payment scheme designed to alleviate her financial stress.
"Madam Hidayah, please listen to my explanation first. We are here to help you. Your rent is only RM124 per month," one officer stated.
Despite acknowledging the rent amount, Hidayah ranted about her financial situation. "Yes, I know. But I am struggling. Don't talk about RM124, I don't even have RM50 in my account right now."
