A personal assistant was arrested on Wednesday within the compound of the Gombak District Police Headquarters on suspicion of theft from a female actress's home in Taman Cempaka, Ampang. The alleged theft resulted in a loss of approximately RM30,000.
According to Supt Nazruel Ekram Abu Saare, the Ampang Jaya District deputy police chief, the female suspect is currently under a four-day remand, which will last until August 18.
The investigation began on June 26 when the complainant, while at home, noticed that her gold necklace was missing. Upon questioning her personal assistant, the suspect denied taking the necklace. Further inspection revealed that two gold bracelets and a gold necklace belonging to the complainant's child were also missing from her handbag. The complainant became increasingly suspicious of her assistant, especially since RM10,000 in cash had also gone missing back in March.
Supt Nazruel also disclosed that the suspect has two prior criminal records. The case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building.
