According to BERNAMA, Executive Chairman of AirAsia Group, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun said as of now, the campaign has provided basic necessities and meals to over 26,650 individuals and 5,200 families, including 1,700 Orang Asli families in Pahang last week.
“We hope to continue this effort by expanding the efforts to Indonesia, the Philippines and other countries, with the right people and support, Insyallah. In this holy month, I would like to encourage everyone to remember and help the people who are less fortunate, and play our part to help others in one way or another,” he said in a statement today.
“Ikhlas" is a brand new line of business under AirAsia.com that mainly caters to Muslim communities who are in need during the Ramadan. From their official website, their mission targets to vulnerable families, refugees, frontliners, soup kitchens, orphanages, and students. They hope to provide basic necessities and ready meals for the targetted recipients, as well as to do community support to purchasing from local merchants in order to support their livelihood and businesses in this current pandemic.
Kamarudin raised an additional RM25,000 for the campaign via his first Instagram Live session, bringing the total collection to RM775,748 on May 10.
