A five-year-old sweet boy from Iskandar Puteri, Johor had to endure excruciating five months of abuse and torture at the hands of his own biological mother and her spouse at their home in Taman Nusa Bestari.
The poor boy was pronounced dead at 12:20 PM yesterday while on his way to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, Johor Bahru, after his mother took him in for an emergency.
The unemployed mother currently lives together in a rented house with her other two children and her 35-year-old spouse, who works as a lorry driver and the two are reportedly unmarried.
Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the victim is believed to have died as a result of abuse by her biological mother and her 35-year-old spouse, which started in June. According to him, the incident of the abuse was discovered after the hospital authorities contacted the police when they detected bruises on the child's limbs as well as injuries to the victim's mouth believed to be consistent with signs of physical abuse.

"Based on the report, the investigation team from the Forensic Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (JSJ) of the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) then conducted an investigation and inspection at the suspect's house,“ He continued. "As a result of the inspection, the police found rubber pipes in the sink in the bathroom, wooden sticks and plastic pipes on the sofa as well as traces of blood in the residence. All the items in the case were confiscated for further investigation, "he said.

Both the biological mother and her spouse has been detained by police and the rest of her children were taken to the hospital for medical examination to determine any signs of abuse as well. "The autopsy on the victim will be done after the results of the child's Covid-19 smear test are obtained," said Dzulkhairi.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code which could lead to a death sentence as well as Section 31 (1) (a) of the Children Act 2001 for abuse.
