What comes into your mind when you think of Southeast Asia? Sunshine? Beaches? And rainforest? But did you know that there are 3 among the 11 Southeast Asian countries that actually receive regular snowfall? Let’s find out.

~Kachin State, Myanmar~

Myanmar has always been associated with the word ‘HOT’. But in fact, it snows too in northern Myanmar at the Kachin State from December to January! Putao, which is in Kachin state, is the closest town to some of the snowy mountains located on the Himalayans. It is also one of the favourite destinations of nature lovers as there are a bunch of outdoor activities you can do there.

But if you’re not an outdoor person and you want to enjoy the snow view, opt for Panwar town instead. A snow-capped Panwa will leave you in awe.

~Sapa, Vietnam~

Sapa is a little town on the mountain of northern Vietnam I bet most of you have heard of, since it’s one of the must-visits in Vietnam. Known for its stunning terraced fields and cultural village, the northern Vietnamese town turns into a snowy paradise in December and January every year. So, why not spend a White Christmas with your loved ones in Sapa this year? Take a train (8 hours) or go by bus ( about 6 hours) from Hanoi, you’ll be amazed!

Which one do you like best?

Or the shiny green terrace?

~Puncak Jaya, Indonesia~

Yes, it snows too in our neighbour country. How unbelievable, isn’ t it? Located in the east of Papua, with a height of 4884m, Puncak Jaya is covered in snow throughout the year. It is literally a snowy mountain that lie near the equator. Though rare and precious it may seem, enjoying the view of Indonesia’s glacier may not be an easy task as the journey to the peak is a dangerous one. But if you’re up for a challenge (well, a huge one, maybe), try climbing it and you will be rewarded with spectacular scenery.
