Yesterday, a user took to Twitter about an Instagram page for Malaysians to anonymously share their salary amounts, in the hopes to understand if one is being underpaid.
Named @malaysianpaygap, the account encourages Malaysians to send in DMs which include their job scope, position, age, duration in the field, salary, etc. to provide context.
The messages are deleted and kept anonymous, but important details are posted up, in order for netizens to have legitimate discussions on paygrade, and whether one is being taken advantage of.
Starting at only a few followers, the page has very quickly grown and currently has over 9.5k followers (at time of writing), breaking the myth of keeping salaries a secret.
As a matter of fact, many are convinced that sharing is caring, and it can help in striving for what is appropriately deserved by working individuals.
