JUST IN: Penang state‘s health department has just submitted a risk analysis to the Health Ministry regarding the Covid-19 situation in the state. Seeing the sudden rise in cases this week, it shall be decided by the National Security Council (NSC) whether the next phase of the restricted movement should or should not be implemented.
Today (6th May) Penang has recorded 305 positive cases. In relation to that, there are currently 14 active clusters to date, involving the manufacturing sector, education institution (two clusters), social activity (two clusters), and one cluster each involving a detention centre and a construction site.
According to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, "All five districts are in the red zone, with the northeast district recording 722 active cases in the past 14 days."
