A second-hand car buyers excitement quickly turned into despair after facing significant losses just hours after purchasing a vehicle from a dealer in Sungai Besi.
The buyer shared that the car broke down before even reaching home due to a faulty gearbox. Upon consulting a mechanic, the cost to repair the gearbox was estimated at a staggering RM8,000.
Although the car came with a warranty, it only covered repairs up to RM3,000, leaving the buyer responsible for the remaining RM5,000. To make matters worse, the dealership, which initially assured the buyer of the car's pristine condition, refused to take full responsibility. They offered to contribute only RM1,000 toward the repairs, leaving the buyer with an additional RM4,000 to cover.
"I have to pay the remaining amount myself. Without paying, the car wont be released," the buyer lamented.
The buyer recounted that during the purchasing process, the seller confidently claimed that the car was in excellent condition. However, the test drive was limited to a short distance within the parking lot, preventing any major issues from being detected. The gearbox malfunction only became apparent during the longer drive home.
