TAIPING - A soldier and his friend were charged in the Magistrate's Court here today on charges of killing an army retiree whose body was found in a bush area in Bukit Sumpitan near Selama, two weeks ago.
The accused, Mohd. Hafidz Ibrahim, 34, and Muhammad Ahmad Md. Yusoff, 31, nodded in understanding after the charge was read out in front of Magistrate Nur Farah Syahidah Mohd. Well.
No confession was recorded from the two accused.
According to the charge, Mohd. Hafidz, a warrant officer and Muhammad Ahmad, self -employed, allegedly committed murder by causing the death of Mohd. Zaki Md. Aluwee, 42.
The act was carried out in a free forest about 60 meters from Jalan Kubu Gajah-Lenggong at Mukim Hulu Ijok in Selama district between 5.30 pm to 10.50 pm on the 10th of October 2021.
Charges against them were filed under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the death penalty if convicted.
The prosecution was conducted by the Prosecuting Officer, Inspector Roslan Mohd. Suki while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
Magistrate Nur Farah set December 9 for re-mention of the case to obtain the autopsy report.
Media previously reported the discovery of the victim's body with nine stab wounds to the body in a state of near decay is believed to have died within three days.
The victim was earlier reportedly forcibly abducted from his house by two known individuals in Taman Ngah Ibrahim, Taiping.
The cause of the murder is believed to be due to a jealousy problem in which the soldier accused the victim of having an affair with his wife.
