A 16-year-old teen in India claimed to have been raped by over 400 men after her father married her off to a family that ended up abusing her.
The victim's father had initially arranged a marriage for her six months ago, after the death of her mother. However, the marriage turned abusive and she was being badly mistreated by her husband and in-laws.
The victim then fled and came back home to her father yet he did not want her. The poor teen had to beg at the bus station in Ambajogai in the Beed district to sustain her living. It is at that very place that she is alleged to have been sexually exploited and raped by over 400 men.
"I was constantly abused by so many people. I went to the Ambajogai police station several times to lodge a complaint, however, the police did not take any action against the perpetrator. Instead, I was attacked by the police," She said.
This is the sad, heartwrenching reality of living in a toxic patriarchal society where women's rights are often ridiculed and overlooked. We wholeheartedly hope that this young woman gets the justice and protection she deserves.
