Sinovac Recipients In Malaysia Should Still Be Able To Maintain Their Fully Vaccinated Status Without A Third Dose, MMA Argues

Malaysian health minister Khairy Jamaluddin had once announced that Sinovac recipients in the country would be given a certain time period to acquire their booster shot before their fully vaccinated status becomes obsolete. However, The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) is of a different view.

They stated that those who have already taken two doses of Sinovac vaccine injections should still be categorized as having been fully vaccinated, still. According to their  president, Dr. Koh Kar Chai, the matter has even been a policy of the Ministry of Health ( MOH) since the beginning and he believes the policy should be maintained.

Since COVID-19 booster dose vaccination is not considered mandatory in the country, those who have been double dosed should maintain complete vaccine status regardless of the type of vaccine given.

MMA also agrees there is a need for those in high-risk groups, who are eligible, to seek increased protection against Covid-19 with booster injections as soon as possible. "However, given that taking the dose of boosters happens to be on a voluntary basis, they should be given sufficient time and advice to make their own decisions," he said in a press statement today.
