A camping and fishing excursion turned tragic when a fisherman lost his life after a tree fell on top of the tent he was staying in with friends. The freak accident occurred at Lubuk Beriang, Kampung Pagar Sasak, Padang Tengku, in the Lipis district of Pahang on August 4.

According to Sinar Harian, the incident took place early in the morning after a night of heavy rain. In a statement by Lipis district police chief Superintendent Ismail Man, he confirmed that the Lipis Fire and Rescue Station (BPP) received a report about two men being severely injured after being crushed by a tree.

Officers from the Padang Tengku police station were immediately dispatched to the scene, which is a popular river and waterfall site where locals often engage in fishing and camping activities. Superintendent Ismail Man provided further details about the tragic event.

"Prior to the incident, the victim, 54-year-old Mohd Azliana Alias, had gone to the location to fish with five other friends and stayed the night there. At 7 am, a tree fell on top of the tent that they were staying in due to the heavy rain which occurred on Saturday. As a result, the victim and one of his friends, Dzulkefli Aman, suffered severe injuries."

Both Mohd Azliana and Dzulkefli were rushed to the Kuala Lipis Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Mohd Azliana succumbed to his injuries at 1.15 pm. Dzulkefli is still undergoing treatment for a broken right leg.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the potential dangers associated with outdoor activities, especially during adverse weather conditions. Authorities are likely to investigate further to understand the exact circumstances that led to this tragic accident.

The local community mourns the loss of Mohd Azliana and extends their condolences to his family and friends. As Dzulkefli continues his recovery, the incident stands as a cautionary tale for those who engage in outdoor recreational activities in the region.
