A heartbreaking incident occurred on December 1st when a six-year-old girl was found unconscious at her family's rented home near Taman Seri Putera, Penang. According to Berita Harian, the tragedy unfolded around 4:15 PM while the young girl was playing alone at the back of the house.
Reports indicate that the girl became trapped between the iron bars of a folding table, leading to her untimely death. At the time, her mother and two older siblings, aged nine and ten, were inside the house.
Concerned after not hearing any sounds from the child, the family checked the backyard and found her unconscious. In a desperate attempt to save her, they sought help from neighbors to transport her to the hospital. Unfortunately, the girl was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
The hospital notified local authorities of the incident, prompting a police investigation. Penang Police Chief Datuk Hamzah Ahmad confirmed the details, stating that the case is currently being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, which pertains to child negligence or abuse.
