According to Harian Metro, the man admitted to importing poison from Thailand and demonstrated how he prepares toxic bait. In one video, he can be seen inserting a spoonful of poison into a banana, which he then offers to wild monkeys.
In another equally distressing clip, the same individual is shown throwing ice cream laced with poison toward a group of monkeys near a residential area. He claimed that his method was an effective way to address what he described as a nuisance caused by these animals.
Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim, Director-General of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) Peninsular Malaysia, strongly condemned the mans actions. Labeling them as cruel and illegal, he reminded the public that harming protected wildlife is a serious offense under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 (Act 716).
Perhilitan has clarified that the intentional poisoning or killing of wildlife is a violation of Malaysian law. Such actions carry severe penalties, as they not only harm the animals but also disrupt ecosystems and pose risks to other wildlife and humans.
The department is urging the public to report any instances of wildlife cruelty and to rely on professional assistance when dealing with wildlife disturbances.
To prevent similar incidents, Perhilitan advises residents to avoid taking matters into their own hands. Instead, they encourage contacting the department for support. Concerned individuals can report wildlife-related issues or acts of cruelty by reaching out to Perhilitan's hotline at 1-800-88-5151.
