It’s not easy to maintain a long-distance relationship. In a LDR, you can’t always get an instant response from your loved one or can’t meet him/her when you’re in need. It’s tough but that does not mean it's impossible! Let’s look at these 5 tips to maintain your LDR!
1. Treat your handphone as your best friend.
A long-distance relationship doesn't allow couples to meet in person, so please utilize your handphone as much as you can! It's best to keep in touch with your partner every day and share the daily happenings. It’ll be so good to hear his/her voice and see his/her face even if you can't really touch him/her at the moment. Set a daily video call time so that you guys will have some time to talk with each other.
2. Do the same things even though you're not staying together.
It’s recommended to read the same book, watch the same movie, or cook the same food with your partners. You'll get more common topics to talk about and can share your feelings with your loved one. If you would like to have more fun, you can watch the same movie with your loved one at the same time via Skype or Zoom. Besides watching the movie, you both can discuss the storyline together.
3. Always obey your promises.
No matter what kind of couples you're, it is very important to keep your promises from time to time. For example, if you’ve promised to call your loved one at 10pm every day, you must stick through the schedule. Fulfilling promises is also a way to let him/her trust you more. Similarly, if both of you had set a real meeting time, you must try your best to overcome all difficulties to meet him/her because staying apart for a long time may cause each other to feel insecure. So, appreciate every chance to meet in person!
4. Be confident in your relationship.
It's really crucial for you to be confident no matter to your partner or your relationship. If you always think too much or do not believe in your partner, it'll be difficult for you to stay together with him/her. The best and only tip to avoid fighting is always trust your loved one. Don't be too doubtful! If you really have questions for your partner, try to communicate after calming down. You'll definitely regret it if you make any decision in anger. Also, and important tip, don't bring up 'break up' discussion too often when you have arguments with him/her! Fighting may be a good way to grow up together so we hope all couples could learn from that.
5. Travelling together.
Planning trips and travelling together are also good ways to maintain a LDR. Travelling does not mean overseas trip all the time, there are also a lot of local destinations which that are not too costly. Travelling will definitely let you understand your partner further and it's a good chance for you to stay with him/her few days consecutively. It's like an opportunity for you to see the future life when both of you are married. This is also why a lot of people suggest that you must travel with your partner at least once before marrying!
“You’re a thousand miles away, but no one else is closer to my heart than you’re.” Let’s hold hands and go through everything together!
