Holidays are one of the many sources of joy that one could indulge in, but there is a reason gluttony is a sin. However, the goal of this article is not to rob you of the delight in pampering yourself with good food, but instead to introduce you to ways you can watch your weight while still allowing yourself the pleasure of indulgence. Here’s how: 


1. Eat Your Fibers First

It is a known fact that eating fibers will fill you up with all sorts of good nutrition and in turn, there wouldn't be much room left for unhealthy indulgence. Although, do cut yourself some slack. It's the holidays, a little bit of guilty pleasure wouldn't hurt.

If you find it hard to practice abstinence, try positioning yourself a little bit far from the buffet table and focus on mingling with loved ones instead of whatever is served on the table. They say it's advisable to stop eating once you feel the first signs of fullness. That way, you gain more control in watching what you eat instead of just blindly devouring whatever is on your plate. Don't read this wrongly, you can still eat what you like if you wish (it's the holidays after all) but just train yourself to stop once you start to feel full.

You might think it's smart to skip breakfast when you're trying to watch your weight, but it's time to give up that misconception. By eating breakfast, you're doing yourself a big favor because it helps to combat unnecessary cravings and prevent you from indulging in bigger portions of food later in the day. Don't skip this!


Lastly, don't be too hard on yourself. If you gain a little weight over the holidays, don't beat yourself up too much; eating good food is a blessing and that is more than worthy of celebrating.
