With only RM3,000 remaining out of the RM30,000 six-month living expenses, a Malaysian student found himself in a tough spot when discussing the possibility of postponing an overseas trip with his girlfriend.
Her reaction was anything but calm she lashed out in frustration. The dwindling funds were proving insufficient for the situation. Recently, an anonymous Malaysian shared a post on a Facebook page, revealing a conversation screenshot with his girlfriend.
Translation: Want to chat for a bit? You looking for me? What's up? Just wanted to tell you I miss you. // There's something I've been wanting to discuss with you for a while now. We're still students after all, and I've been spending too much money. I had 30k for six months in my bank originally, but now there's only a bit over 3k left. Maybe I won't be able to take you out or treat you to nice food anymore. Next month, you mentioned wanting to go to Bangkok, can we put that on hold? // If you don't have money, why even have an npy (girlfriend)? // Because my dad said he'll give me the living expenses for the next six months in September, but this time it's only 25K!!! What do you mean?? // No, no, I sent the wrong chat. Love you, love you! That was meant for my best friend! Seriously!! She messaged me just now. Love you, love you! Love you!!
According to the WhatsApp conversation shared, he started by asking if his girlfriend had time to chat. Once she responded, he explained that he had nearly exhausted his six-month living expenses and might not be able to take her out as previously promised. He also mentioned the idea of delaying their planned trip to Bangkok.
Surprisingly, upon reading this message, the girlfriend immediately scolded him, saying, "If you don't have money, why even have a girlfriend?" However, the man swiftly clarified that his father would be providing him with RM25,000 in September for his living expenses.
The girlfriend later admitted that her scolding had been a mistake she had sent it to him by accident, intending it for her best friend instead.
After sharing the conversation screenshots anonymously on a Facebook page, the man expressed his feelings of inadequacy in such a relationship. Some netizens even advised him to consider breaking up with his girlfriend.
While the authenticity of the conversation screenshots remains uncertain, the ability to spend RM30,000 of living expenses in just six months is undeniably impressive.
