ICYMI: WATCH: Malaysian Fans Show Support For Harimau Malaya After Chinese Supporters Demand 'Refund'
A Malaysian YouTube channel, an account dedicated for children's song videos, has been accused of allegedly plagiarising a national Indonesian song.
WartaKota, a part of the Tribun News media house, reported the song "Hello Kuala Lumpur" uploaded on the 'Lagu Kanak TV' channel had plagiarised the song "Halo Halo Bandung".
"Halo Halo Bandung" is a song written by Indonesian nationalist, Ismail Marzuki, who is also a famous composer.
"The song Hello Kuala Lumpur has a melody that is the same with Halo Halo Bandung.
"There are only a few parts of the lyrics that have been changed, such as 'halo halo Bandung' to 'hello Kuala Lumpur'," the report said.
The animated video of the song was uploaded onto the Lagu Kanak TV YouTube channel on June 30, 2018.
It showed some cartoon figures waving the Jalur Gemilang and several landmarks of the city.
The video, titled 'Lagu Kanak-Kanak Melayu Malaysia | Hello Kuala Lumpur | Lagu Kanak Patriotik' had been viewed over 95,000 times.
