Pahang civil servants will have shortened working hours every Friday throughout Ramadan, as decreed by The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Riayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. Effective next month, working hours will conclude at 12.30pm on Fridays, allowing more time for worship and family during the holy month.
The announcement was shared in a Facebook post by Kesultanan Pahang, confirming that the decision received approval from the Pahang State Government during the State Executive Council meeting on 5 February.
His Royal Highness made the official proclamation during the closing ceremony of the 68th state-level Tilawah Al-Quran on 13 February. He emphasized that the initiative not only provides civil servants with additional time for spiritual reflection but also honours Fridays significance as the "chief of days" in Islam.
Additionally, Al-Sultan Abdullah encouraged the people of Pahang to use this time to deepen their connection with the Quran by reading, reflecting on, and incorporating its teachings into daily life. He also shared his intention to personally engage in Quranic recitation with the staff of Istana Abdulaziz throughout Ramadan.
This move reflects the Sultans commitment to fostering a spiritually enriching environment during the fasting month while promoting work-life balance for civil servants in the state.
