Good news to Potterheads! Toshimaen, a 94-year-old amusement park in Tokyo will be closed at the end of August and be turned into a Harry Potter theme park which is expected to open in the first half of 2023.
The upcoming Harry Potter theme park will be similar to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London where visitors can explore the production sets, look at the props such as wands and potions, and check out a life-sized Diagon Alley. However, the new park will not have rides like the Wizarding World at Universal Studios Japan.
Besides the Harry Potter theme park, a big chunk of the 22-hectare land has also been sold to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which plans to build a municipal park there to be used as an emergency shelter for disasters.
