All of us exhibits self-destructive behaviour in our lives, but we just never really notice it. It could damage your emotional health and even your physical health. The most important thing is to realize what self-destructive behaviours are and recover from them, rather than let yourself fall into endless negative emotion.
1. Desire To Be Liked By Others
You will only show the perfect side of your life on social media, or you will only tell others about your achievements in life while hiding all the mistakes and failures in your life. You don't want to show your weaknesses to others and don't want others to sympathize with you.
You are willing to sacrifice your own happiness in order to make everyone happy and to like or envy you in turn. However, in the end, you are the only one who is unhappy. No one will care about you more, except for yourself. Hence, focus on your own happiness first, and then care about what others think of you later.
2. Reluctant To Leave Toxic Relationships
You are afraid that you will be alone for life, so you would rather stay in an unhealthy relationship instead of leaving it.
Unhealthy relationships including your friend or partner who treats you badly, take advantage of you or disrespect you.
These people will never try to understand you, and they will continue to make you doubt yourself.
3. Letting Obsessions Control You
You may have harmful habits, such as drinking, smoking, eating junk food or even drugs.
You are self-destructive if you let these addictions control you instead of solving real problems in life. These addictions are just a way for you to escape reality.
Hence, you should find out why you became addicted to certain things and solve the problems that caused everything.
4. Unwilling To Try Hard
You are always talking about how you will achieve your goals, such as wanting to run your own business or achieve success in life, but you only tell others about these goals, and not really working to achieve them. This is mainly because you want others to know that you also have your own dreams so that they will recognize you, but you are just deceiving yourself in the end.
Or, maybe you don't work hard because you have been worried that your life will fail, anymore. You will think that no matter how hard you work, you will never be able to do good things and will never succeed.
Keep in mind that every little action can change your life! Start now than never.
5. Taking People For Granted
You don't know how to appreciate your friends and family who spend time with you, support you and provide you with helpful advice when you encounter difficulties in life. Instead, you get angry with them when they do not respect your decision.
6. Not Honest To Your Own Opinion
You always change your opinion based on the people around you, because you believe that their opinions are always right, or you think that others will judge you if you express your opinions, so you will only agree with what others say in order to be recognized by others.
After all, how you love yourself is how you teach others to love you. So start taking care of yourself, both emotionally and physically.
