Chili oil has the perfect spicy, smoky and savoury flavour that can bring balance to any dish. Whether it's dumplings, ramen or pho, drizzling an extra heat of chili oil is what completes the dish, creating a more sensational taste.
Making your own chili oil is fairly simple, and even quick. Besides, it doesn't involve a lot of ingredients.

What You'll Need
- Szechuan chili flakes, 8 tablespoons (purchase HERE)
- Vegetable oil, 1 cup
- Garlic, 3 cloves (minced)
- Ginger (finely minced)
- Salt, 1 teaspoon
Steps:
1. In a heat proof bowl, add all the ingredients.
2. In a saucepan, heat the oil over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes. Turn off the heat once it reaches water-like consistency.
3. Pour the hot oil into the bowl with the spices. Once it's finished sizzling, let it cool for 20-30 minutes.
*Store the chili oil by transferring into a jar and refrigerate. It can be used up to 2 weeks*
