Positive cases in Malaysia reached it's peak yesterday (23rd Feb) 31, 199 cases, since the pandemic first begin in 2020.
Fortunately, based on Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin via press conference, the Covid situation within the country is still under control, as the number of patients which recovered from the virus yesterday, amounted to 20, 399.
He also noted that more serious cases from categories 3,4 and 5 were only 194, most of which were not vaccinated, or those who had not received their booster shot.
Despite the rise in deaths (55), he noted that it isn't as bad as how it used to be during the Delta era, thus reiterating the efficacy in the Covid-19 vaccines, especially a booster among senior citizens.
He also announced the close contact quarantine protocol as follows.
For close contacts who:
1. Have received a booster shot and do not exhibit any symptoms, you would only need to do RTK self-tests, but would no longer need to self-quarantine
2. Have received two doses of vaccine, no booster and do not exhibit symptoms, you would need to self-quarantine for 5 days and do RTK self-tests
3. Exhibit symptoms, you would need to self-quarantine for 5 days and do RTK self-tests
4. Tests positive on self-tests, please report, self-quarantine and self-manage
Last but not least, for all those who have taken the Sinovac vaccine, you would need to take ALL 3 shots by 31st of March 2022, because should you not, as of the 1st of April 2022 you would be categorized as not fully vaccinated.
