Around 30 students at a nearby school in Tumpat, Kelantan, went into hysteria last night, causing havoc in the classroom.
Around 8:30 PM, there was an incident in the school's surau when students living in the dormitories started screaming and yelling.
A school kid related that they had just completed reciting the Quran when there was a brief blackout.
The student added, "Abruptly, there was a scream, and then there were more as if they were possessed." The school promptly moved the impacted pupils to a public space.
The school's Ustaz and a number of Islamic medical professionals who were on the spot helped to calm the pupils down.
After almost three hours, things were back to normal, and the students living in the dorms were permitted to go home.
The residents said that such instances had happened at the school before, the most recent one being four years ago.
"There are several 'haunted' locations in the school, and we have become somewhat accustomed to incidents of hysteria affecting the students," they said.
