Celebrating Hari Raya amid the pandemic must have somehow made the festive season a little less festive as visitation and shaking or kissing hands among families are discouraged in order to break the chain of the infection.
However, this doesn’t mean we can’t at all have fun with our family and friends. Instead, with a little thought that’s out of the box, our Raya can still be full of joy—like this neighborhood in Petaling Jaya.
In a video posted on social media, some 20 Muslim families of a neighborhood can be seen eating ‘together’ with their neighbors outside of their respective houses. Some were eating on mats while others moved their ‘dining rooms’ over to the road and had their meal there.

According to the person filming the video, they placed the food they prepared at one of the houses and in order to maintain social distancing, only the head of each family is allowed to take the food.
It is understood that all visitors had to undergo temperature check and scan the QR code prepared. Mask and hand sanitizers were distributed as well.
Looks like all of them are really enjoying themselves. Well, why not? It’s a heart-warming celebration while following SOPs, after all.
