And, just like in every trailer, this film's claimed to be "based on the true case files of Ed & Lorraine Warren" as well.
The first two movies were inspired from actual events involving The Perron Family & The Enfield Haunting respectively. This upcoming one is based on the Trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson.

And, that's not all in their files! Here are 4 more real cases that could be made into the fourth installment of the movie.

One of the couple's renowned cases in 1986, the Smurls claimed to be disturbed by a demon that made loud noises & an awful stench. This came after they moved into a double-block house on Chase Street in West Pittston, Pennsylvania.
Even worse, the demon threw their dog into a wall, shook their mattresses, pushed one of the daughters down the stairs, plus physically & sexually assaulted a few others.
Pretty sick for a plot!

In 1986 (coincidence much?), the Snedeker family moved into a very affordable rental in Southington. However, they soon, discovered embalming tables & tools in the basement of their house.
So, they decided it would be a good spot to make into their three sons' bedroom! How 'convenient'? And yup, all hell broke loose with missing items, a mentally-ill son, sexual assault & sightings now & then!
It was all up to the Warrens to save them in the end.

Sightings of The White Lady along Route 59, Sport Hill Road within Union Cemetery were reported in Connecticut. In 1990, the Warrens even managed to get a footage of the misty white form, floating around in the cemetery before vanishing.
Based on the Warrens' book, Graveyard (1992), the apparition was a murdered woman dumped behind the Easton Baptist Church. Some say they do see a glowing white light whenever they drive by the area today.

Since the 11th century, many imposing religious buildings have resided upon the ground, on where Borley Church stands now.
It's been claimed that the earliest hauntings came after a nun was executed following her affair with a monk around the 14th century.
When claims of spooky chanting & ethereal organ music, plus sightings of the ghosts of a monk & a nun surfaced, the Warrens rushed to Essex, England to investigate. Sounds like a sequel to The Nun!
Now, be ready for more terrorizing nights, as the dead never really dies!
