According to an article published in Malaysia Now, Zahid Hamidi has reportedly volunteered to be the next PM candidate should Muhyiddin Yassin's government topples over.
The statement was apparently announced during the private meeting between UMNO MPs of which the main agenda was to discuss their exit from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
“Out of Umno’s 38 MPs, only 15 are said to have backed Zahid’s call to revoke support for prime minister Muhyiddin." the article states.
According to the law, Zahid Hamidi is still eligible to be appointed as prime minister despite his corruption charges, as long as he is supported by at least 111 MPs. Since the law states that one is innocent until proven guilty, Zahid Hamidi's appeal is therefore deemed valid.
However, The Vibes has reportedly confirmed with Zahid Hamidi himself that the allegation is baseless and has never been brought up. up
