As countries attempt to adjust back to a somewhat normal life, it would appear that the next new threat of the Coronavirus may be upon us.

Based on reports by CNN, the discovery of the new Covid-19 variant (B.1.1.529 named Omicron) in South Africa sparked quite a reaction, when various countries around the world began banning the entry of those residing, have been traveling in the area.

Recent updates confirmed that Omicron, said to be more contagious than the deadly Delta, has been detected in three countries thus far besides South Africa; Botswana, Hong Kong and Belgium.

Spreading rapidly, the European CDC has expressed 'high to very high' risk of the variant invading European territory.

"There are many more mutations than we have expected, it is spreading very fast, we expect to see pressure in the health system in the next few days and weeks", said Director of South Africa's Center for Epidemic Response and Innovation.

"It is acting differently and looks like it's much more contagious than even the Delta variant", added Dean of Brown University's School of Public Health.
