According to KOSMO!, a teacher at a religious school in Pontian, Johor lost control when he discovered the students were staring at him while he was smoking in the school storage. In his rage, he punched and strangled the children.
According to reports, the 48-year-old teacher was also using derogatory language towards other children.
According to Pontian District Police Chief Superintendent Mohammad Shofee Tayib, the parents of the students went to the Ayer Baloi police station to file a case.
"According to preliminary investigations, the students were crying and shivering when they returned home and they told to their family what had taken place."
He went on to say that the parents objected to the teacher's excessive measures and filed a report with the police.
The teacher has stated that he was enraged when he discovered that the children were staring at him while he was smoking.
Superintendent Mohammad Shofee Tayib says the teacher has not yet been detained because they are awaiting directions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office before continuing the investigation.
A Pol 59 notice was also issued to the four pupils, allowing them to undergo a thorough examination at the Pontian Hospital.
