How Is Malaysian Government Catering COVID-19? Sharing Of Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah

According to the Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the Malaysian government has started planning three actions in December 2019 to deal with "invisible enemy" since the onset of COVID-19 in Wuhan. 

1. Ability To Detect And Diagnose Coronavirus.

After the Chinese government issued the sequence of testing coronavirus, the medical experts in Malaysia have begun to prepare for laboratory testing and diagnosis based on this sequence.

2. Public Health.

Malaysia has made improvements based on past experience in combating infectious diseases such as influenza A virus H1N1 and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) so that it can better cope with the coronavirus.

3. Deal With The Shortage Of Manpower And Equipment As Well As Overcrowded Hospitals.

Experts, nurses and patients under the units that are not related to COVID-19 are transferred to the hospitals of other counties.

Besides, the government also changed the day operating room to the intensive care unit and successfully completed the square cabin hospital in 3 days.

As soon as the Malaysian Medical Research Institute (IMR) was able to conduct COVID-19 testing, training has been conducted in universities, private and government laboratories. 

IMR has started training with 23 laboratories. Now, we can perform 30,000 tests per day.
