A canteen assistant has been jailed for six months by the Magistrate's Court today after she was found guilty of selling the jewelry she had previously stolen from an elderly, on November 30th, 2021.
Nazrini Shuhada Abdullah, 27, pleaded guilty to selling the stolen property, specifically a gold necklace weighing 14.72 grams, to Yayasan Pembangunan Ekonomi Islam Malaysia (YaPEIM) Smart Venture Sdn Bhd, which originally belonged to an 81-year-old woman.
According to the case, Nazrini, along with his son, had mugged the elderly while the victim was home alone. As a result of the mugging, the victim had suffered a neck injury and an estimated loss of RM3000.
The accused has previously appealed for a minimum jail sentence as she is currently taking care of a small child with an income of only RM30 per day, thus six-month imprisonment was given.
Interesting how petty offenders get immediate punishment while international criminals can roam freely in this country.
